DESCRIPTION
SCP-001 is the form, structure, and knowledge regarding the nature of reality.
The sirens. They keep going off and they never stop. Telling us the end of the world is coming.

Or rather, what is left of it.
But it already came.
On June 22, 2007, the human race faced an EXK-Class Extinction Event. What it was, and how it happened, are unknown and likely to never be answered. This scenario occurred in what has been designated the Principal Reality.
We do not live in the Principal Reality.
The sirens are blaring, but there's no one around to hear them. You're starting to feel it now. There's a great emptiness to the world.
The version of reality we exist in is an impression of reality. Superficially our surroundings appear complete and whole, however recurring evidence shows that the majority of what we perceive about the world is not real. Instead, what we refer to as "baseline reality" is a rapidly-deteriorating fragment of the universe, left over from the destructive event that terminated Principal Reality.
This fragment has been designated SCP-001.
There is still a lot of ground to cover before moving on. You have to tie up a loose end to prevent a paradox. There's a distress signal you have to send. No, no one's going to receive it.
