Concept
The Foundation's HR department. More than just payroll and benefits, this organizational group has to handle strange and unexpected sides of being a Foundation employee.
One part thriller, two parts dark humor, this series features an interesting and diverse cast who are forced to be an island in a sea of bureaucracy and secrecy.
Takes place after the destruction of the Antimemetics division.
Main Characters
Fill out the roles of a Magnificent Seven.
- Hero: Mx. Scranton - Head of HR. Enby PoC. From another timeline, brought here via SCP-3022. No-nonsense. Has a lot of knowledge from other timeline; her personal and professional relationships with people in this timeline are often tainted by the other timeline. The namesake (creator?) of Scranton Reality Anchors.
- Lancer: Amber - a psychic. Blonde, peppy, cheerleader vibe. Has major depression issues from knowing what everybody thinks about her all the time; her upbeat demeanor is a massive facade. Effectively second-in-command of HR. Very rules-and-policy-oriented.
- Big Guy: Carl - An anomalous entity. Antimemetic. Speaks through others.
- Smart Guy: Lee - Goth. Spicy. In-tune with peoples' emotions (great!) But too-often issues that to toy with people (not good).
- Old Guy: Dane - HR’s Historian. A time-transplant from the 17th Century. Formerly a Warden of the Commission on Unusual Cargo. Has… unique views on the present, and a lot of insight and knowledge about undocumented SCPs. Also speaks many languages.
- Young Guy: Elanor - Introduced in Antimemetics tale Numbers Lie, Elanor is an accountant and the newest member of HR. Elanor serves as the viewpoint of the series.
- Funny Guy: Ryehouser??
Supporting Characters
Carl (deceased) - Carl is a ghost. Carl handles spreadsheets. Carl likes spreadsheets and when he died he just… kept doing them. Carl is a good guy.
Steve - an antimemetic entity. He chimes in on conversations and contributes to the resolution of things, but no one else in the office acknowledges him. (This entity might get combined with Carl, above)
Format
Each piece in the series intersperses members of the team handing actual HR work (in unexpected/amusing ways) and investigating an anomalous HR issue. Characters also handheld of their own personal arcs, such as:
- Elanor feeling detached and writing herself memetic messages
- Amber’s internal strife and depression at constantly hearing thoughts
- Dane’s pre-time-travel life
Meta-Arc
There is also an ongoing arc about an internal group of corrupt Foundation agents who are trying to utilize anomalous objects for profit, political agendas, etc. HR and this mysterious group are constantly playing cat-and-mouse.
Additional thoughts
- Why is the HR department so small for a Foundation so large?
** Or are there other HR employees “off-screen”?
** Or are they all just fake people, as in Numbers Lie?
** Will that be addressed? I think so.
- Should some of the Antimemetics info carry over to HR (Class W mnestics, etc.)
